Getting an appointment out of hours

If you can’t get an appointment with your GP or can’t get there during the day due to work or other commitments you can use the Enhanced Access Service.

Sunderland offers extra appointments seven days a week at your local out of hours site, alternatively it may be possible to arrange an appointment at another site across the city which your practice will arrange.

Appointments are offered in the evenings from 6-8pm and 9-5pm on Saturdays and 10-3pm on Sundays and even on Bank Holidays appointments are available from 10-2pm.

This service is provided by GPs and other practice staff from across the city.

Staff can check your GP practice’s records about your health if needed, unless you have opted out of record-sharing.

These appointments are easily booked either through your practice or by ringing 111 who can also access the booking system.

(Please Note – we aim to allocate you an appointment at your local site, however, at times it may be required to give you an appointment at one of our other sites in Sunderland)
